ZAO cosmetics are certified organic by Ecocert*

This control and certification body of cosmetic products guarantees you the ecological and organic features of the products of ZAO Make-Up.

Ecocert requires that certified products do not contain GMOs, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicone, PEG, perfumes and synthetic dyes or any petrochemical material. Ingredients from animals (except those produced by them such as honey, milk …) are also prohibited.

The Ecocert certification guarantees that:

  • 95% or more of the total ingredients are natural or of natural origin
  • 95% minimum vegetable ingredients of the formula are from organic farming
  • 10% minimum of the total ingredients are from organic farming
    *except nail polish

ZAO Make-Up products are also labelled Cosmebio

COSMEBIO is an association of manufacturers of natural cosmetics who wanted to materialize their ecological values ​​in a charter with a recognizable logo for the consumer. To carry this label, a product must be manufactured by a member company of the association and its formula must have been certified organic by ECOCERT or Quality France according to their reference system.

Except our nail polish, all the ZAO make-up range is labelled COSMEBIO. It means that:

  • Minimum 95% ingredients must be natural or of natural origin
  • Minimum 95% of vegetable ingredients must come from organic farming
  • Minimum 10% of all ingredients must be from organic farming

Our pencils are labelled ECO, which means that:

  • Minimum 95% of natural ingredients must be natural or of natural origin
  • Minimum 50% of vegetable ingredients must come from organic farming
  • Minimum 5% of all ingredients must be from organic farming

The COSMEBIO label prohibits GMOs, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicone, PEG, perfumes and synthetic dyes, ingredients from animals (except milk, honey …).

The packaging must be recyclable and minimize the environmental impact.

2018: Cosmos organic labelled products already exist

To make your life easier, several European organizations such as Ecocert (French organic certifying body), Cosmebio (French organic label), BDIH (German certification body and organic label), SoiL Association (English certification body and label), ICEA (Italian certification organization and label) but also ACO (Australian certification organisation and label) have come together to create common specifications to standardize and simplify the understanding of organic cosmetics for the consumer. This common certification is called COSMOS ORGANIC. That helps the consumer to know who to trust in the blink of an eye.

Since January 2017, all new products and reformulated products have been awarded the COSMOS ORGANIC label.

ZAO also holds the Slow Cosmetic mention

Slow Cosmetic is a reward given by the Slow Cosmetic Association to brands that are committed to a more ecological and less misleading beauty, on more than 80 criteria relating to composition, packaging and advertising. Only brands consistent with the Slow Cosmetic Charter receive the mention.

ZAO Make-Up is Vegan certified by the Vegan Society

The Vegan label certifies that our products do not contain any animal ingredients.

ZAO products are Cruelty-free, certified by Leaping Bunny label

This international Cruelty Free label certifies that ZAO Make-Up does not test on animals*. Our quality procedure verifies the compliance of the purchased ingredients with respect for animal life, as well as the commitment of the supplier.

*European law requires that no animal testing is performed on products sold in the European Union.

Organyc Certifications / Labels

There is no organic standard for feminine care, but since our products are made of a natural textile, they’ve been absorbed into the organic textile category. The leading organization for organic textiles is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards). In addition to being GOTS certified, Organyc products have also have the following certifications:

ICEA (The Ethical and Environmental Certification Institute) inspects and certifies firms respectful of the environment, workers’ dignity and collective rights. ICEA is one of the most prominent inspection and certification bodies in the field of sustainable development
